The Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) Georgia Rental Assistance (GRA) Program

Community Action For Improvement, Inc. contracts with the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) to administer the Georgia Rental Assistance (GRA) Program for Carroll, Coweta, Heard, Meriwether, and Troup counties. Starting on Monday, August 1, all interested applicants must make an appointment at www.cafi-ga.org. Clients will be seen by appointment only — we will not be taking walk-ins.

The Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) launched the Georgia Rental Assistance (GRA) Program in March 2021 to provide relief to Georgia individuals, families, and landlords whose finances have been negatively impacted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The State of Georgia received $552 million from the U.S. Treasury’s Federal Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERA1) and an additional $437 million under ERA2. You may qualify for assistance if you are a Georgia renter who has fallen behind on rent or utility payments as of March 13, 2020. The GRA program can provide up to 18 months of rental assistance and utility assistance, paid directly to landlords and service providers on behalf of the renter.

When applying for assistance, clients must bring
1) Proof of Photo Identity,
2) Verification of Renter Status – Copy of the fully signed lease,
3) Verification of Risk of Experiencing Homelessness or Housing Instability – i.e.: An eviction notice, past due rent notice, past due utility bill, or Statement of Housing Instability Form,
4) Verification of income documents for every adult (age 18 and older) in the household (i.e.: proof of gross income for all household members for the last 60 days. We accept paycheck stubs, public assistance checks, unemployment award letters, etc. Applicants must also bring the original Social Security Card for each person in the household and their most recent home utility bill.)
and
