The Housing Choice Voucher Program is funded totally by federal funds from the Department of Housing and Urban Development. No State appropriations are used in the administration of this program. Once on the program, all changes regarding the family composition or income must be reported by the 20th of the month in which the change occurs. The family will be recertified on an annual basis. The unit they choose to live in will also undergo an annual Housing Quality Standards inspection.
Portability refers to the ability to relocate and select housing anywhere in the United States with continued rental assistance. The CHA administers the HCV Program within Carroll County.

We are allowed to issue a 30- day extension from the expiration date of the initial housing authority.

Yes, homeownership is available to tenants in the HCV program. You must be a resident for 2 years and be in good standing.
Yes. If you have internet access, please go to the Georgia Housing Search website and follow prompts leading you to ‘Rental Assistance’. The site provides up-to-date information on HCV and affordable housing units. You can also search other rental sites, check local newspapers, and reach out to landlords.
The subsidy standards are set by the receiving housing authority, and therefore the bedroom size is determined by our agency. It is possible to receive a larger or smaller bedroom size.
This will be determined at your initial briefing with us. Please note that Payment Standards are different across the United States. Your current payment standard might be higher or lower than CHA’s payment standard.
