Effective January 15, 2018, the Housing Authority of the City of Carrollton (CHA) will close its Public Housing Program waiting list due to excessive wait times. During this period the CHA will no longer be accepting applications for the Public Housing Program, but will continue to process previously submitted applications. The waiting list will reopen when CHA determines that the average wait time for housing has reached an acceptable level. The public will be notified through newspaper advertisement, as well as, on the CHA website.

The Housing Authority of the City of Carrollton is committed to being a leader in providing affordable housing to very-low, low and moderate-income persons through effective management and wise stewardship of public funds, partnerships with our residents and others to enhance the quality of life in our community. Founded in 1950, the Housing Authority of the City of Carrollton (CHA) is chartered by the laws of the State of Georgia to provide and administer quality and affordable housing to low-income persons. CHA receives policy guidance and operational approval from its five member governing Board of Commissioners that are appointed by the Mayor of the City of Carrollton. The Housing Authority of the City of Carrollton operates and administers a total of 231 public housing units in five developments within the City of Carrollton, Georgia. The Housing Choice Voucher program consist of 163 Section 8 Vouchers and 30 HUD-VASH Vouchers in Carroll County. Funding for these programs are provided by the Federal Government through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
